We are proud to celebrate our Principal Partnership with the Royal New Zealand Ballet by supporting dancers at every stage of their journey—from grassroots community efforts to world-class performances. Our Love to Dance grants were created to champion local dance initiatives that bring people together, foster inclusivity, and promote wellbeing through the joy of movement. These grants reflect our commitment to nurturing the love of dance from its early stages in the community right through to the pinnacle of performance with the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
The Love to Dance grants provide funding to local dance groups, studios, or individuals who are making a positive impact in their communities. Each year, we award three $5000 grants to recipients who embody creativity, inclusiveness, and the ability to inspire joy through dance. Whether offering free dance classes for seniors or inclusive workshops for all abilities, these grants help fuel the passion for dance across all ages and backgrounds.
Congratulations to our 2024 grant recipients; Jitterbugs Dance Lessons, Christchurch Gang Show & Vicky Line Dance.
Dance is about so much more than learning a routine. It’s about connection, creativity, physical movement and fun. These aspects all play a part in the activities we have on offer at Ryman villages. Our long-standing partnership with The Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) reflects our residents’ love of the arts, performance and dance.
The Royal New Zealand Ballet’s (RNZB) performance of the Ryman Healthcare Season of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Opera House in Wellington was an unexpected treat for our local residents.
Ballet has been a lifelong passion for Margaret Stoddart Retirement Village resident Audrey Burton. Audrey’s love for dancing has not dimmed and at 85 years old she still dances whenever she can.
Joining the Triple A session at William Sanders Retirement Village were Royal New Zealand Ballet stars Shaun Kelly and Mayu Tanigaito, who enthusiastically took part in the circuit session.
