When you feel like being social, it’s easy to grab a coffee in the village café, have fun with the grandkids in the pool, and catch up with friends at our weekly Happy Hour. And if you fancy a change of scene, your home will be safe and secure with lawns mowed, windows washed, and mail collected while you’re away.

Enhance your wellbeing with our ACC-accredited Triple A fitness programme, gym, and a social calendar of activities, events, and trips to choose from. Some residents like to organise their own hobby groups when they meet people within the village who share their interests.

Our amenities vary from village to village and can include: swimming pool and spa, café, library, village centre and bar, hair and beauty salon, pool/billiard table, movie theatre, gym, bowling green and more.

Residents can join in the many activities on offer. It may be going on a group bus trip, heading off to visit an exhibition, joining one of the many interest groups, and Happy Hour is always a resident favourite.  

Stroll through your village to see dance classes in full swing, volunteers banding together in the resident workshop, and fly-fishing enthusiasts embarking on a river adventure.  

Think about those passions and pastimes you’ve always wanted to try but never got around to. Now is your chance to give them a go!

Independent residents have the option to download the myRyman resident app. It will help you manage your calendar of village activities and events and keep up to date with important notices. It's also simple to attend virtual events directly from the app.  

The app is optional, but just like reading the daily news headlines or checking the weather forecast, using it has become second nature for many residents.  

Because the app has been specifically designed for Ryman independent residents, it's easy to install and use, plus we provide you with technical support to get started. 

Triple A (Ageless, Active, Aware) is a complimentary exercise programme available to all Ryman residents. It’s designed specifically for older people, is ACC approved and accredited, and the aim is to enhance the quality of your life and overall wellbeing.  

We have classes and exercises to suit all levels of fitness, so you can choose what’s right for you.

In Ryman villages, along with independent and assisted living, we offer a range of care options to support you.

These include rest home, respite and in most cases, hospital and dementia care. In some circumstances you can also choose to receive rest home care in your own serviced apartment.

Our residents receive the best of clinical care from our expert teams and are treated with respect and kindness.

We offer delicious meals, thoughtfully planned activities, spacious rooms, and ensuites with call bells that are monitored 24/7, but the real difference for our residents is feeling surrounded by a community that cares.

When people visit our care centres, they often tell us that they feel that difference. It’s in the way our residents and care teams interact, their genuine affinity and connection with one another. 

At Ryman, we deliver the highest standard of care with the help of our own custom-made care app, myRyman Care 

The app enables nurses and carers to securely record daily care tasks at the bedside, access and update clinical data efficiently, and to spend more time with residents. Our most experienced clinical team members describe myRyman Care as 'magic'. 

In 2019, myRyman Care was named Innovation of the Year - Care Model at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards in Singapore. The award recognises the best care model that improves quality of life for older people. 

It takes a community to support people living with dementia, and that's exactly what we've created in researching and developing our own award-winning model of dementia care, myRyman Life. 

Through this model, we aim to challenge perspectives on dementia by creating inclusive communities where residents can thrive. 

The focus is on experience-based care rather than processes, enabling residents to live in the moment, and to feel kindness, love, and security. Residents are supported to continue doing the things that bring them joy and a sense of fulfilment. 

In 2020, myRyman Life was named Innovation of the Year - Dementia Care Model Solution at the Asia Pacific Eldercare Innovation Awards in Singapore. 

Our Delicious menu offers flavoursome meals prepared fresh on site by our village chefs. With a choice of three main courses, including a vegetarian option, the aim is to tempt all taste buds. 

The seasonal menus are always evolving as residents tell us what works, and what could be better. We serve up to 120 different meals each month, so the same meal won't reappear for 4 weeks unless it's back by popular demand. 

We can cater for your special dietary requirements as well. 

Our free activities programme, Ryman Engage, is about embracing opportunities and activities that are thoughtfully planned, and age and ability appropriate.  

Performers and guest speakers are regularly invited to the village to entertain our residents, and relatives often come along to join in the fun. 

Some activities include Men’s Club which is a chance for blokes to get together, a music programme aimed at stimulating memories and reminiscence, and puzzles and quizzes to encourage mental stimulation. 

The key is to provide something for everyone. From arts and crafts, to movies, to outings in the village van, there are many options designed to spark your interest, including Happy Hour, which is a firm favourite with residents. 

Designed for older people, the Ryman Triple A (Ageless, Active, and Aware) exercise programme encourages our residents to keep moving. Many of our care residents tell us they've become more active since moving into the village. 

Catering for all levels of ability, this optional free programme aims to improve strength, balance, and mobility, to help prevent falls and enable residents to keep their independence for longer.

Financial certainty

Choice and transparency


To retire with confidence, you need financial certainty. We're transparent about our costs, offering options to fit your ideal retirement lifestyle. No matter which option you choose, you'll know exactly what you're paying and what you'll receive in return.

We offer a choice in Deferred Management Fee (DMF), of either 30% or 25% with the latter option having a higher entry price.

You can choose between fixed or indexed weekly fees which are set at the time of signing your agreement. Indexed weekly fees are linked to the annual increase in superannuation.

Moving in requires an entry payment. It’s a one-off fee, paid before you move in and while we’re sure you’ll love living in a Ryman village, you have 90 days* to change your mind and receive your money back.

The entry payment agreed in your Occupation Right Agreement (ORA) covers your home in the village and access to our award-winning services and world-class amenities.

A Deferred Management Fee (DMF) is your contribution to the continued maintenance and management of the village, including your unit and village amenities. Often referred to as a departure fee or exit fee, the DMF is an amount that becomes payable when you permanently vacate your unit. The DMF is calculated as a percentage of the entry payment.

We offer a choice in DMF of either 30% or 25%, with the latter option having a higher entry price.

While living in a Ryman village you will pay a weekly fee. The weekly fee covers everything from rates and garden maintenance to village amenities, such as a pool and bowling green, as well as a range of village-run activities.

You can choose between fixed or indexed weekly fees which are set at the time of signing your agreement. Indexed weekly fees are linked to the annual increase in superannuation.

Indexed weekly fees are variable and will increase once a year in line with the index they are set to.

At Ryman, you won’t pay an additional DMF or an additional entry payment if you transfer from independent living to assisted living in a serviced apartment. Plus, there are no transfer fees. 

Your weekly fee stops as soon as you move out. There are no capital gains or losses, and you will receive your entry payment back, minus the DMF. 

As well as contributing to managing and maintaining village amenities, the DMF covers the cost of refurbishing and reselling your home in the village. 

Your entry payment minus the DMF will be paid back to you when a new resident moves into your unit. This means you can be certain this money will be returned to you or your loved ones as soon as possible.
